Pastel Colours

Apart from greys and neutrals, the pastel colours used in Module Three’s collage projects are demonstrated here.

Some of the colours are transparent and others are opaque because of the white paint added. Purple and berry colours, mint and sage green and three blue colours are mixed. To obtain a lighter colour, less paint and more matte medium is used per sheet, or more white paint added to create a tint: this will make it opaque as well.

I use matte medium to mix all the colours in the video demo, not on the sheet before painting (as demonstrated with the paintbrush techniques), but as extender for the concentrated colour and agent for mixing.

In the follow up project, pinks and purples will be used with different paintbrush techniques to create round rose shapes. These flower shapes will be used in the artwork project for Module Three.
